Notification Procedures for Delayed Openings and School Cancellations

The following procedures are used by the Superintendent of Schools to notify parents and students of delayed openings and school cancellations for the upcoming winter season.
Telephone
Using School Messenger, an emergency communication system, parents and students will be notified between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. if there is to be a delayed opening or school cancellation because of severe weather.†
District and School Web Sites
That same information will be posted as an announcement on the home page.
E-mail
If you have signed up to receive the District e-newsletters, you can check your email for a message if school opening is delayed or if school is cancelled
Media
School delays and cancellations are posted on both Channel 77 (Cablevision) and Channel 40 (FIOS), and placed on the voice mail message to the District's general telephone number, 967-6100.
If for some reason none of those systems are working properly, information will be posted on News 12 Westchester, WFAS (1230 AM/103.9 FM), and WHUD (100.7 FM) .

If a student or parent has checked all of those notification points and information regarding a delayed opening or a school cancellation is not there, it means that school is open and students are to report for a normal day of school.
